Armor of God - Pilgrimage Way

The Armor of God

Some notes of the armor:

  • Before you can suit up, you need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Prioritize knowing Him, and know His grace (Eph. 6:10).  Nobody sends children into battle; be strong, be skilled in the Word of Righteousness (Heb. 5:13, 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
  • Be sure that you put on the whole armor, that you are not out of balance in any area. If you do not put on the helmet, that is where you will leave an open door for attack (Eph. 6:11).
  •  People are not your enemies. The devil is our enemy even if he is using someone to attack you. To treat someone as an enemy is foolish and the devil will exploit it and cause you to sin against them (Eph. 6:12). In fact, we should pray for them, as Jesus did, that God would forgive them, “for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34, Acts 7:60).
  • There is no protection for your back in this armor, so face attacks head on and don’t turn back (Heb. 10:39)
  • The whole point of a spiritual battle is to separate you from God, create fear, leading to doubt, leading to sin, and ultimately rob God of His glory in you being an overcomer.
  •  Do not be unaware of the devil’s schemes, using your flesh, unconverted people, or the hosts of spiritual forces in the heavenly places to spiritually oppress you. You will know when it’s occurring because it’s an oppression that you cannot shake off with normal means; it is very persistent and intrusive in your thoughts and heart.
  • Always be ready, there is no instruction to take the armor off. Go to bed with your armor on. Wake up with it on and check for the pieces to make sure you didn’t lose any, “being watchful always to the end”.
  • Attacks and warfare will only work for our good if we respond in humility and submission to God (1 Peter 5:8-10). Remember that He allows the attacks to test, strengthen, and prove us. Trust that through Him that loved us we can be more than conquerors just like Jesus. Take His examples and put the principles into practice (Matt. 4:1-11).

Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. [11] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. [13] Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, [15] and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; [18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
