Being Critical

Psalm 123:3-4 NKJV

Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt. [4] Our soul is exceedingly filled With the scorn of those who are at ease, With the contempt of the proud.

Once we become Christians it is constantly tempting to become critical of others who “aren’t as good” as we are, or jealous of those who are “better off” than we are. We will even try to justify it and say we are trying to “discern others to see what God thinks of them”, when it’s really just our human nature and fleshly opinions. It’s amazing how easily these opinions spew out, and we find ourselves talking and thinking about others without even having taken a moment to pray for them.

We are actually joining in with the devil, who constantly accuses others of their faults and never appreciates, loves, or helps. We need to be sober minded and examine ourselves to root out this type of sin, and stop fellowshipping with the devil.

May God help us to be Christ minded toward others, to receive the one who is weak in the faith and love our enemies.

1 Corinthians 15:33-34 NLT
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” [34] Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.

James 3:8-10
no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.  Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.
