A Third Option

We often will consider matters in life and think “well it’s either this way, or that..”. Take for example the Israelites in the desert, who had the option to wait, or to proceed ahead. Things in life can seem very cut and dry like that. They have distinct starts and stops, and seem to be measurable and fixed.

In Christ however, for us who walk by the Spirit of God there is another realm, another dimension on which we can travel, make decisions, and live. The Israelites, while they waited and proceeded, did not have the opportunity that we do to go upward! We have the promise of the Holy Spirit to grow while we wait and suffer, to be established and firm as we proceed into unknowns, to please God by the Spirit even while the flesh is weak!

Romans 7:25-8:1NKJV..So then, with the Mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the Flesh the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

If we will be careful about our judgements and opinions, and humble ourselves to wait and discern by the Spirit, we will often see a third option to life’s situations. It becomes more apparent that things aren’t so cut and dry after all, and the ability and power of God comes in to open a new and living way in you circumstances, a hope for the impossibility, a redemption of what seems to be ruin. This is the life of walking by the Spirit, where we need to learn to reject the carnal and obvious, not judging only by what we see and hear, but seeing by faith as the Holy Spirit directs our steps on a unseen path of glory to glory. Trust that these steps of walking by the Spirit are preappointed and planned for anyone who is willing, and humble enough to obey.

Scriptures

Isaiah 11:3 NKJV
[3] His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NKJV
[17] For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, [18] while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Mark 8:23-25 NKJV
[23] So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. [24] And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” [25] Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.
